Rejoice! Rejoice!

Since when does spring arrive in January? I know we've been spoiled all month but today was the icing on the cake. Absolutely perfect! It was forty-six degrees this morning when I walked to work and it got warmer as the day progressed, peaking somewhere in the mid to upper 50s. As beautiful and uplifting as the weather has been today, I kind of feel like Mother Nature is laughing at me. Haha, you have to sit inside all day doing stressful number-crunching tasks, and you don't even have a window to look out of! My job's only redeeming quality today is that it's casual Friday. Oh, and pay day...which somehow isn't as exciting to me as the fact that I wore jeans all day.

I actually went out last night! I was having a crappy day at work and my plan was to spend the evening sitting on my bathroom floor drinking beer by myself, so you can imagine my delight when I received a voicemail from Christina halfway through the afternoon. I got to drink beer in public instead! We dined at Old Chicago, where I was exposed to my first savory tastes of artichoke dip and calzone. I've led a sheltered life, untouched by so many of life's finer experiences. Christina is my horizon broadener. First the ballet and now calzones!

After dinner, we shopped in fun Canal Park stores that I never knew existed (more new experiences!) and went to see Brokeback Mountain. I typically find it difficult to sit through movies (King Kong), but this one grabbed my attention and kept it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jake Gyllenhal is dreamy sans mustache and sideburns.

To top off all the excitement of my Thursday night, I didn't get home until midnight. You know your life borders on mundane when that feels like an accomplishment. But hello, school night! I swear I won't brag about that if it happens on a Friday or Saturday night.

Last night's events left me feeling a little sleepy and lackluster today, so I nixed the night in Tower. Red and I will see each other again someday, somewhere, when the stars align. Until then...I'll cry myself to sleep each night.
