Hey! I'm an asshole!

This morning I was checking my hotmail, as I seldom do, and as I was mass deleting pages of spam, a message with the subject "Brewhouse Incident" caught my eye. Hmm...

I opened it up and began reading, but didn't get very far at all. It was from (allegedly...I never trust the internet completely) the wife of the man whose medical emergency I wrote about in my blog a couple of weeks ago. I immediately felt like the biggest asshole alive and closed the email before I could read the rest of it. That's how I deal with unpleasant things. I avoid them. And my instinct tells me she wasn't writing to congratulate me on my knack for writing.

I'm seriously humiliated. I can't even bring myself to go back and read the blog to see just how offensive it was, but I do recall a pervasive nonchalant, selfish insensitivity. I AM SO EMBARRASSED! You see, I have a readership of one. No exaggeration. I keep this blog only so I can look back on my life ten years from now and see what was going on. My sister is the one and only person who regularly reads my blog....and she thinks insensitivity is funny! I guess the fact that the internet is HUGE and really anybody can read my blog slipped by me this time. Whatever. There is really no excuse for it. I am now taking active steps to ensure that nobody local stumbles across my blog. I have blocked it from appearing on search engines and am considering changing the url.

To be honest, the whole Brewhouse situation really hit me hard. By the time we left Fitgers, I was shaking so bad I could hardly walk. I shot a few prayers up to the Big Guy, asking him to be with the old man and his family during that difficult time. I'm not as insensitive or hard-ass as my blog makes me seem. Really! I'm a decent person!

I probably will never read the rest of the email.

So, to anyone reading this whom I may have offended, I sincerely apologize. Believe me, I will pay for my insensitivity with years of humiliation whenever anything reminds me of this situation. No more trips to the Brewhouse for this girl. I really do hope the old guy is okay.
