Back at it.
Do you know what I love about Memorial Day even more than the big American flag my veteran neighbor hangs on his garage for the day? I love the fact that I just had five fat slacker days away from work. I returned to the monotony today, but I doubt I've ever felt as relaxed and prepared for it as I did this morning.
I took two extra days off to really extend my already long weekend, and made the voyage up to Tower to spend four days with my family in the house that I grew up in. The weekend included fourwheeling, Boggle, beer, rummy, rabbit-counting on Park Point in Duluth, sinfully delicious food, really cute new shoes, hide and seek with Beebster and Auderberry, and, best of all, the kind of quiet that you just can't find in the suburbs. Oh, and I saw a large black bear in the driveway. You can admit that you're jealous. Sometimes it takes a relaxed, extended stay up there to make me realize how much I really miss it.
Now I'm back and the air conditioning doesn't work. Isn't that why I live with a boy? So I don't have to worry about these things? I hear banging and mumbling downstairs. Hopefully the AC is the "dirty bitch" he's talking to. Guess I better dust off my little fan.
I'm looking forward to the nice, quiet, plan-free weekend ahead of me. I just hope it gets cold again.
